

Bio
The third of four boys, Paul Thomas McCarthy was born in 1952 in St. Paul and raised in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Early on he exhibited a talent for drawing and painting and was encouraged by family and friends. He received his B.F.A. from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and his M.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where his work was chosen for the prestigious Traveling Fellowship Show.
During the next three-plus decades, Paul devoted himself to his art, creating more than 250 paintings and scratchboards. His work has been represented by leading Chicago dealers Aaron Galleries, van Straaten and Frumkin & Struve.
Paul traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada, Europe, the Maritime Provinces and New Zealand to capture his images. He died in 2008.
